Terms

The basics of using Sociogene.

By using Sociogene, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. We have tried to keep this readable.

What Sociogene is.

Sociogene is a free self-discovery assessment for associations. It offers insight and patterns, not professional, legal, financial, or organizational advice, and not a definitive verdict on your organization. Use it for reflection and conversation, not as the sole basis for a major decision.

Who can use it.

It is meant for associations, societies, and the people and firms who run them. You need to be old enough and authorized to accept these terms, and if you answer on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are allowed to do so.

Your account.

If you give us your email, we create a passwordless account. Because that email is how you sign in, keep access to it secure, and you are responsible for activity under your account.

Using it fairly.

Please do not misuse Sociogene. That means no automated scraping or bots, no attempts to manipulate or pollute the data or the field, no reverse engineering or copying of the model, no unlawful use, and no submitting someone else's information without their permission.

Your answers and our data.

When you take the assessment, you allow us to use your de-identified answers, the scores with nothing that identifies you, to power the field, build benchmarks, and improve and study the model. Aggregated, de-identified data is ours to use for those purposes. How we handle anything personal is spelled out on our Privacy page.

What belongs to whom.

The Sociogene name, the model, the nine archetypes, the signatures, and the content are ours. We give you a personal, limited right to use your own result and signature, including any badge we provide, to represent your organization. Please do not resell, copy, or build a competing product from our model or content.

Sharing.

If you choose to share your result, you are responsible for what you share and where, and you can take a shared page down at any time.

The service is provided as is.

We work to keep Sociogene accurate, available, and useful, but we offer it without warranties. Results come from your own answers and are meant as insight, so we cannot promise they are complete or error free, and we may change or pause features, especially early on.

Limits on liability.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Sociogene and its team are not liable for indirect or incidental damages arising from your use of the site.

Changes.

We may update the service and these terms. If we make a meaningful change to the terms, we will update the date below and flag it.

Ending use.

You can stop and delete your account at any time. We may suspend accounts that abuse the site or break these terms.

Governing law.

These terms are governed by the laws of Virginia, United States.
