Why I built Sociogene.
I have spent my career around associations, serving on executive teams, leading technology and innovation inside them, and later building tools for the people who run them. That meant a lot of time in rooms with association leaders, and somewhere in those conversations I started noticing something.
Past the introductions, you stop forming an impression of the people and start sensing the organization itself. Where its energy sits. Whether it guards what it has or reaches for what is next. Whether power lives at a center or spreads across its members. Whether the work is carried by passion or by structure.
By the end you have a feel for the shape of the place, not what it does, but what it is. The more I noticed it, the more useful that read became. So I built a way to make it visible to anyone.
What it is.
Sociogene is a self-discovery assessment for associations. In about two minutes it maps your organization across four dimensions and shows you your shape, your archetype, your unique signature, and where you sit among your peers. It rests on one firm belief: there is no good or bad way to be an association. Every shape carries real strengths and real blind spots. So Sociogene describes who you are, never how good you are. Patterns, not scores.
Why it is free.
I made it free and open because understanding yourself should not be a luxury, and because a field that can see itself clearly is a healthier field. Take it, share it, compare with a peer, and come back as your organization changes.

Your result comes from twenty short questions, grounded in established organizational research and adapted for associations. The Methodology page lays out exactly how it works, and what it can and cannot tell you.
Who is behind it.
I am Ion Despoiu. I also founded New Empact Work, a platform that helps associations run their innovation, awards, grants, and scholarship programs. Sociogene grew out of that work, but it stands on its own, free for any association to use, whether or not it ever works with us. Your result is yours, with no strings attached.
